As I stated in previous blogs, this Mullen plant has grabbed my attention and will not let go! So, here’s my current thoughts that have been sparked by this plant.
How many times do we say someone has “too much drama”? Could there be a root cause for that drama?
This plant started in a warm nourishing environment. Look at the picture on the left. Do you see the deep green of health, in spite of a little snow on it’s leaves? Then frost came (middle picture). Aren’t we all all affected by some form of ‘frost’ in our lives? This time the frost was DEEP causing injury which can easily been seen on this plant. Due to the ice a piece of leaf did break off when I touched it; not normal for a healthy plant. Today this plant’s color has also faded (third picture), a drastic contrast from the first picture of health.
Are all injuries as easy to see?
How many times do we pass judgement on someone without really understanding the environment they’ve experienced? I was recently involved in a group that I struggled with but held on to hoping for the best. During one meeting a member of the group asked me “Did you bring your happy face?” OUCH!!! That comment confirmed what I already knew, that I was not valued and it was not a nourishing environment for me. I am no longer a part of that group and am feeling much more at peace and healthier.
I’m currently working on my third Nutrition Certification. Today’s lesson is on hormones. How much does the average person KNOW about hormones?
Do you ever watch The CHOSEN series? This past week’s episode (Season 3 Episode 6 – Intensity in Tent City) got me to thinking as two of the characters, Mary and Tamar, were having a discussion. Mary was upset that Tamar was not humble like Mary thought she should be. Tamar wears jewelry that Mary thought was too ‘rich’ (for lack of a better word) for the humble ministry they were doing and had asked Tamar to sell the jewelry for food for the group. Mary is portrayed as a depressed person, whereas Tamar is an upbeat happy-go-lucky person. I absolutely love Tamar’s comment to Mary, “You have no idea what I’ve gone through to get to where I am and why I’m not willing to sell my jewelry!”
WOW!!!
We are all diverse! Some are melancholy, others are sanguine. Some are introverts, others are extroverts. Some are like Abrams Tanks …. rolling in loudly like thunder, where others are Stealth Bombers…. flying in undetected. Some are Bouncy Tiggers, others are Sad Eores. Each has it’s value designed by Yahweh-God our Creator, we’ve just been programmed to treat some as less valuable. Aren’t you glad HE did not make us all hands, or feet, etc?
As I mentioned, my current lesson for my certification is on hormones and how they affect our body. If hormones are off balance, serious issues can happen, including depression. If only we took the time, like Mary and Tamar, to understand each other and what we’ve gone through to get to where we are now. Maybe mental illness and suicide rates would drop. I’m sure cancer rates and other dis-eases would drop too!
What if we placed more value and compassion on what others have gone through? Besides the “Did you bring your happy face” comment, I also had someone who had NO intention of getting to know me state, “You need to just get over cancer! I have friends who’ve had cancer and got over it!” Thankfully there were other cancer survivors in the room who came to my defense. Besides, cancer itself was not even what I was struggling with at that time. Truth is, neither one of these people saw my value; they were intolerant and had no desire to value me.
People regularly argue with me that what they put into their bodies in the form of food does not matter. Hmmm… doesn’t it matter what you put into your car’s gas tank?
EVERY dis-ease DOES start in the gut! The gut is affected by what fuel is put into your body. Isn’t food part of our environment?
Do you know what Serotonin is? Do you know what it does in our bodies? Do you know that our body produces it, or where it’s produced? Do you care to know?
I’m anxious to see what happens to that Mullen plant! Will it recover with the warm sun and soil? Or has the hostile environment killed it? I still see beauty in that plant, not only outwardly but also inwardly as I’ve learned it’s healing value for my body.
Have you ever been in an environment that hurt your will to keep going?
Or are you one that sweeps things under the rug pretending it never happened, or using Philippians 3:12-14 as your way of not properly allowing your emotions to heal? Remember, the Body Keeps the Score! Brushing things under the rug shows up in our cells. Multiple scientific studies prove this.
I, like the Mullen plant in my pictures, have seen brighter healthier environments, but have been severely affected by hostile environments and am looking forward to more inviting and encouraging environments. Thankfully Yahweh-God my Creator, El Roi sees beauty and value in me no matter what emotional state I find myself in, just like I see beauty and value in that plant.
Deprogramming takes time and effort. Are you willing to deprogram?
