You may be asking what in the world this picture has to do with a walk down memory lane. So glad you asked!
I am drawn to the absolute beauty of this Mullein plant every time I walk by it in my yard. It has it’s own beauty that captures my interest, and reminds me of a flower I think is absolutely beautiful… the Magnolia.
Besides it’s beauty, this year this Mullein plant has caught my attention with how resilient and sturdy it is. As you can see, there is death all around it, as well as snow on it’s leaves. Can you see any other challenges this plant is facing?
Not only did this plant experience snow, it also experienced ICE from temperatures of 2 degrees fahrenheit at night causing it to shrivel from frost bite. Amazingly it has recovered with the warmer weather!
Now to answer your question regarding the connection between this plant and memory lane.
As memories have popped up on Facebook or flashbacks in my mind’s memory bank I’ve found myself thinking about what was happening in my life at that specific time. What Yahweh-God my Creator keeps whispering to me, “My grace is sufficient for you; My power is made perfect in weakness”, 2 Corinthians 12:9. I’m seeing that to be so true! So many of those memories, HIS power is the ONLY way I made it through. Just like this Mullein plant!
Yahweh-El Roi also whispers to me, “I have chosen you before the world began for a mission that only YOU can do. You have value and a purpose just like that Mullein pant!” Do YOU know the value of the Mullein plant? Or is it just a weed in your book?
Matthew West has a song that speaks to this so perfectly! ‘Truth Be Told‘ How many times have you found yourself saying “I’m fine” when you’re not? Another of Matthew’s songs that speaks to me on this topic is ‘The Motions‘… I DON’T wanna go through the motions!
